Hello backers!

Our Pledge Manager and Pre-Order Store will be released today.  

Check your email for your BackerKit survey, this is your entrance into our Pledge Manager so you can confirm your shipping details and get whatever add-ons you want.

How to Save the Most on SHIPPING COSTS

1)  First, check out our add-ons in the Pledge Manager to see what you want.  DON'T add anything to your cart just yet.

2)  Upgrade your Base Pledge so that it most closely matches what you want.  For example, if you know you want a PRINT Tome of Lore, upgrade to a pledge level that contains that item.

3)  To upgrade your base pledge, click BACK in the survey, back to the first page.  Under the green Get Started button, you'll see a small blue link that says "switch your pledge level."  Click on that to upgrade your base pledge.

4)  After you've upgraded your pledge, if you want add-ons that aren't captured perfectly in an existing pledge level, you can add those items to your cart.  Want an extra Tome, or another set of HV dice?  You can do that.  We've kept shipping fees as low as possible.

***Also***

• The most efficient base pledge for shipping is the $65 level, or if you want two full sets of everything, the $130 level will save you even more.  
• The Day 1 Bonus 5 has been automatically added to your order, if you backed on Day 1.  If you missed that, you can add the Day 1 Bonus 5 to your order for $5 (and zero increase in shipping.)
• The Share the Campaign Bonus 5 has instructions within that add-on.  If you shared the campaign already, or if you share the URL to our new pre-order store, you get these cards for free, with no added shipping costs.  If you don't want the hassle of sharing, you can add the Share the Campaign Bonus 5 for $5.

Progress Report, a scary week in Oregon, and new art: The Demogorgon.

Hi everyone.

This is Alec from Dubious Merit Games and One Million Nerds.

The BackerKit survey, access to the PM, and our pre-order store will come out Monday or Tuesday of next week (the 14th or 15th).

We’ve made the selection as granular as we can.

The set consists of 6 items.

1) Base-Level Pledge: PDFs of the first 40 Monster A.I. cards + PDFs of the Tome of Lore.

2) High-Variance dice.

3) First 40 Print A.I. cards.

4) Print Tome of Lore.

5) 1st Bonus 5 Monster A.I. cards. (FREE for Day 1 supporters, $4.95 if you missed that.)

6) 2nd Bonus 5 Monster A.I. cards (FREE if you shared the campaign OR if you share the link to the pre-order store. $4.95 if you don’t want the hassle.)

*The Pledge levels as they exist in the Kickstarter are the best deals to begin with.

A scary week in Oregon

Why was the PM released late?

In short, because we’ve had a scary week here in Oregon. First, historic winds knocked out power in Portland and surrounding areas for days.  Simultaneously, dozens of wildfires started, burning 100s of homes, and placing over 500k people under threat of evacuation. 40k people have had to evacuate. My own home was without power for 36 hours, and I was lucky.

Here’s a scroll-down, update-style article from the Times that provides a good summary.

Where I live in south Corbett, we’re 2 miles from the Clackamas County evac zone and the air is thick with smoke. As of Friday, the fire danger is decreasing as the winds die down. I’m feeling incredibly thankful, and sad for the many people who lost their homes.

Moving forward

Assuming no further natural calamities, we’ll get back to work full-time on the project! We’ll be writing monster profiles, illustrating, and fleshing out our narrative A.I.

Hi all!  You did it!

We had a huge response during the last 3 days of the campaign.  The Grim & Deliberate Beast is a reality!  Narrative A.I. for your monsters, combat insults, critical hit and death blow tables, and monster culture, psychology, and lore.  

Next Steps

Our team will enter our creative caves over the next 3 months to finish the project:  Writing, editing, art, and design.  We'll post our progress to the Grim & Deliberate Beast Blog, which we'll release the URL for soon.

BackerKit Pledge Manager

Our next step is setting up our Pledge Manager in BackerKit.  We'll be doing this over the weekend.  Once you get your BackerKit email (likely on Tuesday) you can enter the Pledge Manager where you can change your address, upgrade your pledge, and add any add-ons you'd like.

High Variance Dice

We're currently waiting on bids for 2-color dice to see if they are feasible at our current budget.  Because our HV dice are fully-customized, they are expensive to manufacture.  We'll offer the best possible version of the HV dice to our dice-level backers, and will offer HV dice as an add-on in the Pledge Manager.

Tome of Lore in Hard Cover

Yes, all print-level Tomes will be in hard cover.  We felt strongly that the Tome should be in hard cover, so we saw this as the most important Stretch Goal of the campaign.  If you're not yet a print-level backer, you will be able to upgrade to a hard cover Tome in the Pledge Manager.

Mix-and-match add-ons

We'll do our best to offer full granularity in the Pledge Manager.  The best deals will be the pledge levels as they are currently defined, but we'll offer as much as we can in an a la carte format.

The Bonus 5 Stretch Goal monster A.I. cards

You can still share the campaign to claim your Bonus 5!  As soon as we have our pre-order store set up through BackerKit we'll ask that you share that URL to claim your Bonus 5.  

The Bonus 5 will also be available for purchase, but for anyone who shared the campaign or who shares the URL for the pre-order store, they are free.

Hello everyone!

Wow.  It's been a big couple days for The Grim & Deliberate Beast! 

The Tome of Lore is already unlocked and in hardback.  And we have a chance to hit our 85k Stretch Goal, to upgrade all high-variance dice to 2-color marbled dice.

What are high-variance dice?  Check our FAQ for the fine details, but in a nutshell imagine a d20 with two 1s and two 20s.  Twice the fist-pumping criticals.  Twice the howling fumbles.

We're heading into the last 24 hours of our campaign and we can't wait to see how it turns out.

A few days after the campaign wraps up, you'll receive an email survey from our Pledge Manager, BackerKit.  Make sure you fill it out!  It contains all the details and info you need about your pledge.  Want to change your address, upgrade to a print Tome or Lore, or pick up some high-variance dice for a friend?  You'll be able to do all that in the Pledge Manager.
